Speaker Kits

WD25T - The Sequel - is our latest, upgraded, version of the original WD25T kit published in Hi-Fi World magazine in 2006. New, in the Sequel, is a revised cabinet construction utilising our ARCENA sandwich cabinet material specifically designed to reduce panel resonance and block sound transmission from the interior of the cabinet.

Cabinets are now supplied ready-assembled, so all you have to do is solder the crossover components onto the printed circuit board, connect to the drive units and bolt them into the cabinet. We supply everything you need, except for a soldering iron and screwdriver, so it is really simple to build these high performance speakers in an hour. Fully veneered in natural light oak real wood, you can stain to any finish you desire or just apply a light coating of Danish Oil for a superb, lustrous, appearance. Solid Oak plinths (not shown here but new photo coming soon) are also included for extra stability.

WD25T is a Floorstanding version of WD25A using a technically advanced double enclosure separated by an aperiodic vent to give precise, controlled and extended bass performance allied to the midrange clarity and treble detailing provided by this classic two-way design. If you want the control and lucidity of bass provided by Aperiodic damping, but with greater bass extension and power, then WD25T is the choice for you.

With 88dB sensitivity for 1 Watt input and an easy-to-drive 6 Ohm impedance, WD25T is the ideal choice for valve/tube amplifier owners and will also raise the performance level of any solid state amplifier.

Standard kit includes a SEAS 26cm bass unit, standard Prestige treble unit or the optional and advanced XL treble unit, crossover components, crossover board and 4-way terminal panel with bi-wire option and all damping materials.

Options include a fully veneered cabinet kit complete with plinth, in light oak with a deep lacquer finish. Other finishes avaliable to order.

Our latest floor standing kit is practically unique in many aspects of its design. At first glimpse it might look as though it is missing a drive unit - where is the treble unit? In fact the top driver is a co-axial incorporating an 18cm bass/midrange TPX cone with a 25mm soft dome tweeter.

This combination of treble unit and bass/midrange in one has the distinct advantage that the two units are time aligned and behave as a point source. You can expect seamless integration across a wide range of listening axes as well as pin-point precision to stereo images.

By itself this high class SEAS co-axial unit is a phenomenal drive unit. In combination with its stable mate in the WD20T, the SEAS CA18RLY (H1217) the result is a boost to the dynamic range and bass power. Although you might not expect it this combination of drivers provides a lifelike presence to vocalists and instruments bringing the performers palpably into the room.

This unusual driver combination has another unique twist. Both bass drivers are connected in parallel making this a straightforward 2-way system, at least in terms of crossover configuration. Musically this combo is extremely lively and enjoyable, easily crossing all musical boundaries and eliciting foot tapping rhythmic response whether you are playing jazz, rock or even Mozart!

Cabinet configuration is based on our legendary work on the Aperiodic Closed Box system heralded by the WD25T. With no bass reflex boom or wallow the musical lines of bass instruments are incredibly detailed and easy to follow. In addition the two compartment system inside this tower cabinet breaks up internatl standing waves that normally plague tall speakers eliminating the source of upper bass 'honk'.

We didn't stop there. Cabinet construction is a tour-de-force utilising a combination of particle board and MDF that we call 'WEDROC'. This material marries the benefits of 19mm thick particle board (distributed panel resonance and damped sound transmission) to the rigidity and clean surface finish of MDF, here used as a 6mm outer skin. With internal shelves and braces the result is an acoustically 'dead' cabinet, beautifully veneered in light oak.

DIY enthusiasts who find woodwork a difficulty will love the ready-built cabinets - all you have to do to complete the kits is wire up the crossover and drive units and install the internal damping. Kits come complete with everything you need to assemble a matched pair of speakers, even the drive unit screws.

For those who prefer to make their own cabinets we provide complete plans on the accompanying CDROM. This also contains the design articles as published in Hi-Fi World magazine so that you can see exactly how the speaker was conceived.

Crossover components include our now ubiquitous high power coils and SONIQS low loss Polypropylene capacitors complete with a four-way terminal panel with easy bi-wiring option. Intenal wiring is SONIQS SQC and SQV and floor spikes are provided as standard.
